Executive Leadership

  • Beau Tompkins Vice President

    Beau Tompkins began working at Rhode Island Blood Center in 2008 as the Operations Manager in Hospital Services. In 2012, promoted to Director of Hospital Services, and worked to partner with local and regional hospitals to ensure blood product services were met and provide the highest quality of services. Today, as Vice President, RIBC Operations, his role encompasses understanding all aspects of blood recruitment, collection, testing, manufacturing, storage, inventory management, distribution, and hospital contracting/relations to provide the best possible service to our customers, donors, and the patients we serve. 

    Prior to joining RIBC, he worked for another blood center for three years on the laboratory and quality assurance teams. Beau holds a BA from Clemson University.

  • Alexandra Jimenez, MD Vice President, Medical Director

    Dr Jimenez began working at RIBC in 2018 as the Medical Director. Dr. Jimenez is actively involved in AABB and the American Society for Apheresis (ASFA). She serves on the AABB Blood Bank/Transfusion Service Standards committee as well as the AABB Transfusion Transmitted disease committee. Her major research interests include the epidemiology, pathogenesis and laboratory evaluation of transfusion-associated viral infections, as well as blood safety implications of new and emerging transfusion-transmissible infectious diseases. She is also interested in transfusion management, laboratory development, and improving patient safety.

    Dr. Jimenez earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Johns Hopkins University and graduated with distinction from UCC School of Medicine. After receiving her medical degree, her postgraduate training consisted of an Anatomic/Clinical Pathology residency in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico and a Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking fellowship in the Division of Transfusion Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center & the New York Blood Center.

  • Darlene Folan Vice President of Quality

    Darlene began working at RIBC in 1983 as a Medical technologist in the Main Laboratory, then became Assistant Supervisor.  She held Director level positions at RIBC in Laboratory and Hospital Services prior to becoming Vice President of Quality in 2012.

    Darlene holds a BS in Biology from Eastern Connecticut State University and a medical technology certificate from Bridgeport Hospital.

Laboratory

  • Jill Alberigo Director of Laboratory and Special Services

    Jill began working at RIBC in 1998 as a Medical Technologist in the Main Laboratory performing blood product quality control and infectious disease testing.  In 2000, she was promoted to Assistant Supervisor of testing, a position that evolved into a Supervisor role with oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Main Laboratory testing, as well as ensuring adequate staffing and staff competencies. In 2013, Jill became Director of Laboratory Services overseeing both laboratory testing and blood component production. Her most recent role is the combined Director of the Main Laboratory and Special Services Laboratories, which includes the Reference and HLA laboratories.

    Jill holds a BS in Medical Technology and is ASCP certified. She is a member of the ABC Technical Directors Committee and a Board member of the Rhode Island Schools of Allied Health (BRISAH).

Donor Resources

  • Nicole Pineault Director of Donor Resources

    Nicole holds a BA in Public Relations from the University of Rhode Island and has worked at RIBC for over 19 years specializing in donor recruitment. Her roles have included Marketing Assistant, Account Manager, Marrow Donor Recruiter, Recruitment Supervisor for RIBC's National Marrow Donor Program, and Manager of mobile blood drive recruitment. She was promoted to Director of Donor Resources in 2015 and became the Director of RIBC's National Marrow Donor Program in 2018. Nicole was the recipient of the ADRP Rolf Kovenetsky Recruitment Leader of the Year Award in 2019.

    A past participant of the Patient Services Committee of the RI Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Nicole says, “I can’t think of a better way to spend my time than helping to ensure that patients receive the life-saving blood they need when they need it. The donors, patient families, drive sponsors and coordinators I’ve been blessed to work with over the years have enriched my life in so many ways. I’ve learned important lessons like, tell the people you love that you love them...and cherish life’s simple pleasures.”

    Nicole lives in North Kingstown, RI with her husband, Lt. Col. Dennis Pineault, and their two children, Caleb and Aubrey.

Donor Services

  • Lisa Everett Director of Donor Services

    Lisa joined the RIBC team as Director of Donor Services in January of 2016 coming from Virginia Blood Services, an independent blood center based in Richmond, Virginia. She began her career in blood banking in 1996 as a Collections Supervisor, then became part of the Donor Services management team.  Prior becoming the Director of Donor Services at VBS, she worked in quality assurance, served as a Customer Service Liaison, and managed training and education programs. Lisa also has experience working in hospital laboratories in Virginia and Massachusetts.
