Other Areas Of Need

You can now designate your gift to a variety of needs at the RI Blood Center!

At Rhode Island Blood Center, saving lives is in our blood. We are committed to providing a safe and reliable source of blood and blood products to hospitals in Rhode Island and beyond. Your financial support helps to further our mission in measurable ways. Whether you make a gift to our Annual Fund, which supplements life-saving operating expenses, or to a specific area of need, every dollar and every donor makes a difference!

Rhode Island Blood Center Annual Fund

The RI Blood Center Annual Fund is the backbone of our philanthropic initiatives. This fund, established in 2021, provides support beyond our annual budget. It provides the organization with the flexibility to allocate resources toward our most immediate needs, which allows us to provide the greatest impact on our community.

Be the Match Marrow Donor Program

Life-saving blood stem cell and marrow transplant matches start with a simple cheek swab. The Rhode Island Blood Center's partnership with Be The Match®, the National Marrow Donor Program, aims to raise awareness about the need for donors and to help patients receive the transplants they need to cure them. Most of the time, stem cells are collected right at the Rhode Island Blood Center through a process that is similar to donating blood platelets or red cells. Your gift to support this partnership will help to recruit more life-saving donors to the registry.

Fiscal Year 2022 Priority: RIBC Bus Remodel

In addition to our six donor centers around the state, the Rhode Island Blood Center operates six full-service blood collection buses for mobile blood drives. These buses are crucial to bringing our operations to community blood drive sponsors where it is most convenient for donors to give.

Coach buses require maintenance and enhancements to ensure that they have the most up-to-date equipment to service our donors fully. Currently, one of our buses is out of service and in need of renovations. Updates to this bus in order to be fully operational again is the RIBC’s primary capital improvement project for fiscal year 2022.
